High Adventure Overnighters

Each year on MLK weekend, Pack 289 embarks on a special high adventure overnight trip designed to challenge scouts, build independence, and create lifelong family memories. These signature events offer experiences far beyond a typical campout, taking our pack to some of the most exciting landmarks in Texas and beyond. Recent trips have included sleeping aboard the USS Lexington in Corpus Christi, an overnight safari at the San Antonio Zoo, and a mission under the stars at the NASA Space Center in Houston.

An unforgettable experience in Corpus Christi where scouts walk the decks of history, explore naval aviation, and sleep in real sailor bunks. It’s a powerful lesson in service and engineering.

When the gates close, the adventure begins. This nocturnal safari offers scouts a rare look at animal behavior through guided tours and conservation workshops, all while staying safe in the heart of the wild.

Scouts reach for the stars in Houston. From hands-on STEM engineering challenges to sleeping alongside massive rockets, this trip is designed to inspire future astronauts and innovators.

Building Skills for Life

From exploring the decks of historic vessels to sleeping under high-tech rockets, our scouts develop resilience, teamwork, and a sense of wonder. These overnight adventures are the highlights of the Cub Scouting journey, offering hands-on learning outside the classroom. Whether learning to pack their own gear or working together to navigate a new environment, every scout builds the confidence and independence they need for the trail ahead. It's a safe, structured adventure that builds memories to last a lifetime.
