Growing Together Safely

Youth training at Pack 289 is designed for discovery. Our age-appropriate steps ensure every scout learns personal safety and group responsibility through fun, hands-on activities. We focus on empowering scouts to understand their surroundings while being guided by trained leaders.

We emphasize mandatory procedures like the Buddy System for all outings and rank-specific safety certifications, including the Cyber Chip for digital safety and the Whittling Chip for tool handling. Every event is structured with high supervisor ratios so scouts grow in a safe, family-friendly environment.

Expert Supervision for Every Event

Safeguarding Youth  (SYT)

The safety of our scouts is our top priority. SYT is mandatory for all adult leaders and volunteers, providing essential guidelines for maintaining a secure and positive environment for every youth member.

Leader Position-Specific Training

Whether you're a Den Leader, Cubmaster, or Committee Member, we provide role-specific training to ensure you have the tools and knowledge to deliver a high-quality program for our scouts.

BALOO Wilderness Training

The Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is required for any cub scout overnight event. It covers the basics of camping, fire safety, and outdoor cooking to keep every campout safe and fun.

Safety Is Our Top Priority

Safety is the standard for every Pack 289 event. We combine rigorous preparation with clear protocols to ensure every scout is protected and every parent is informed.

Always Prepared

In any emergency, a designated safety officer leads the protocol. We prioritize immediate care and maintain clear assembly points for all participants.

Communication Is Key

We keep families connected with monthly newsletters, a centralized calendar, and GroupMe chats for each den.

Incident Reporting

Transparency is key to improvement. Every safety incident is logged and reviewed by leaders to refine our future safety drills and equipment standards.
